I am currently in a long-distance lockup for 3 months. My keyholder is the assigned owner of my ChronoVault, and she controls the lockup (and pretty much everything else related to the lockup). That alone adds a lot to the experience.
However, I can't quite forget that I can revoke the assigned ownership rights at any time (even though I won't). Losing that ability for some set period of time would definitely make the transfer of all control REAL.
I prefer a freeze-out for a set period like this rather than requiring the assignee to give ownership rights back. I can imagine situations where getting them back would be unlikely without a time limit.
I would like the ability to set the length of the freeze-out period (only at the time the freeze-out period is established--with no changes allowed after that until the freeze-out period runs out) for a variety of reasons.
It might be useful to also allow the assigned owner to voluntarily give back ownership rights within the freeze-out period.
When considering other ideas, please also consider adding the ability to set a specific unlock date and time as opposed to x days or x weeks or x months (etc.) in the online management screen similar to the way it is done in DL Uplink.
Nice idea, but there is alwasys a "recover password" function.
The idea of the revoke lockout feature is to try to mimmic real life. In a real relationship, you would talk to your keyholder and negotiate what your maximum time for chastity is. (Safe/sane/consensual). The lockout period is the maximum time you are willing to accept.
Your keyholder can set lockup periods that will expire either before or after the lockout period. Once the time expires, you can if you wish revoke if absolutely required...
Yes, giving the keyholder control over the primary account would be easier--provided you are in the same place. I don't think it would work for remote keyholding, though, since both the person with the vault and the remote keyholder need to log in to change vault settings.
I don't know DL kit well as CBxK devices don't work on me - they fall off. For self-control, I use a Goethals 'Concept' belt with keys in a (serious) safe with a time lock.
The timer is typically set to three days. However, there's a button on the safe that restarts the timer. I normally press that button twice a day. They are emotional moments.
Alternatively, the timer can be set to three days, but the timer isn't running. A switch on the safe starts the countdown, but toggling the switch again restores the original condition.
This discussion thread is about ceding control of DL kit, but with mechanisms to regain control after a period. I wonder if the timing sequences I use are applicable for DL. Renewing one's lease can be frequent and fun (charged?) moments.
If I read the description of your idea correctly, the problem is that once the revoke-lockout period has passed, you're back in the situation where he can simply revoke ownership at any time.
What I think would make better sense would be a transfer lockout period. He can still revoke ownership at any time, but upon doing so, the device is non-responsive to commands for X days. The number of days would be set when he initially assigns ownership. Even if he transfers ownership to someone new during that period, the new owner will also have to wait till that time has lapsed. The only way to avoid this would be if the prior owner relinquishes her ownership voluntarily.
However, no I was not talking about a transfer lockout period...
With a nickname like houdini, you can guess that one of the things i know something about is how to "escape". With ownership assignment, a male who is a primary owner can then unlock the chronovault - even if the timer has not expired. The idea of revoke lockout means the male can set whatever he is comfortable with for a "contract" period. During this period, he has no control over whatever timer duration is set via the web portal. No revoke is available.
Yes, he can revoke at the end of that period... that's to be expected. Once that revoke lockout period expires, he could enter into a new "contract" preventing revoke till expiry of the new agreement.
I hope that explains the idea a little more concisely. What does everyone here think? Do existing users like the feature? Would it be a "winning" feature for those thinking of getting a ChronoVault?
I think it is an excellent idea for both the DL2000 and the Chrono Vault.
There could be a range of time selections like:
Until "Date"
1 month
3 months
6, and 9 months
1 year and so on to no time limit (i.e.. until reset by the assignee)
