AC can better penetrate tissue when electrodes are small and aren't making good contact through the fur. Also when the current isn't going through muscle but only through a superficial layer of skin DC doesn't feel very strong at all. Cattle prods also use AC, but according to some sources they create a static electricity spark rather than delivering current through tissue directly.
To be entirely honest a short burst of DC electricity does not totally exclude the AC component, because the sudden rise and fall in voltage creates a high frequency AC signal. But there's a BIG difference between our pulse and the feel of AC electricity going through your body. AC burns tissue faster, it stings. Trans-penile DC delivery has a unique feeling to it, like a whack on the genitals.
It's all quite complex, but we've researched and tested (ouch!) all alternatives and arrived to the best solution in terms of electrode size, positioning, current type, voltage and timing.
I was reading your instructions about pulse customisation and the increase of intensity as each pulse cycles between on and off every so many m/s as the default level 3 is defined.
My question is if you could cycle the polarity every other repetition as D/C causing the muscles to expand and contract. Wouldn't this method be more effective then just on and off each pulse?
