One of my main questions about effectively using the device is this: is there an observed difference between, on the one hand, having the male actively participate in training by telling him in advance that, e.g., "I am going to train you (the male) to sit on the floor at my feet whenever I am on the couch watching t.v." (thereby eliciting his active co-operation in the program, but also allowing him to believe that his co-operation is a voluntary process), versus simply administering the adverse stimulus whenever he fails to take the appropriate position, then using the reward button to shape his behavior towards the desired result, all without his 'voluntary' co-operation, thereby ensuring that the behavior is learned at an un-conscious level? Perhaps some of the trial run users could experiment with these two techniques to compare speed of learning vs. incidence of relapse?
It is recommended for the male to be told what he is supposed to be doing. A verbal command will be necessary until he learns a sufficient number of silent commands.
